December 2009 Accreditation Actions and Public Disclosure Statements

December 2009 Accreditation Actions

At its meeting on December 7, 2009, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees took a number of actions regarding the accreditation status of applicant, candidate, and member institutions in its region.  (Click onto December 2009 Accreditation Actions.) The list does not include the names of institutions required only to submit additional monitoring reports unless the reviews resulted in a negative action.

The list below includes the names of institutions reviewed in December 2008 and June 2009 that were required to submit additional reports for December 2009.  Because they were removed from a sanction during the meeting of the SACS COC Board of Trustees on December 7, 2009, their Disclosure Statements were deleted from the Commission’s Web site if formerly posted. Institutions removed from a sanction are as follows:

  • Alabama Agricultural & Mechanical University, Normal, Alabama
  • Florida Memorial University, Miami Gardens, Florida
  • Fundacion Universidad de las Americas - Puebla, Puebla, Mexico
  • Louisburg College, Louisburg, North Carolina
  • South Carolina State University, Orangeburg, South Carolina
  • South Louisiana Community College, Lafayette, Louisiana

Please click onto December 2009 Accreditation Actions for an update on the above institutions.

December 2009 Public Disclosure Statements

The Commission on Colleges is authorized to post on its Web site Disclosure Statements for the following actions regarding the accreditation status of institutions: (1) institutions placed or continued on Warning or Probation, (2) institutions removed from accreditation or candidacy, (3) institutions denied initial candidacy or accreditation, (4) institutions denied authorization of a candidacy committee, and (5) special committees authorized separate from another Commission action.

Each of the institutions listed below has had a Disclosure Statement prepared based on the action taken on December 7, 2009. The Statement tells the status of the institution, the definition of the Commission’s Board action taken, the reason for the action, the next step in the institution’s review, and any other recent action taken by the Commission’s Board that can be disclosed.  All information disclosed in the following Statements is in accord with the Commission’s policy “Disclosure of Accrediting Documents and Actions of the Commission on Colleges.”
